My name is Lindsey Jelfs IMDT, BCCSDip.AdvCanBhv.
I have worked with and trained dogs for over 35 years. I started working at an animal sanctuary with rescue and boarding kennels licenced for 120 dogs in Kent in 1987. I then moved on to boarding kennels. I have been a volunteer for The Cinnamon Trust for around 4 years and also fostered and cared for dogs for charities and owners. I have always owned and trained my own dogs in various skills including an award in obedience. Now I am lucky to have gained formal qualifications and be able to train dogs as my full time job.
I use science-based techniques with a friendly, supportive and down-to-earth approach. I never use harsh, punitive methods but keep training kind, simple and fun in a totally force free way using only positive reinforcement methods in accordance with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT) code of ethics.
I want every owner to enjoy their dog and develop a great relationship. I aim to give owners the knowledge and knowhow to keep their dog safe, happy and have the confidence to enjoy life and freedom.

I believe dogs learn quicker and more effectively when they are having fun. My classes and training are relaxed and rewarding with treats, toys and play.
I never use force or aversive methods. Only harnesses and flat collars are allowed in my classes, no slip leads, head collars, check collars, etc will be allowed in accordance with the IMDT code of ethics.
Classes are a great way to learn, have fun, gain new skills not only from the trainier but you also learn a lot from each other.
Having a dog is a whole family affair. Everyone involved with the day to day care and training of your dog is welcome to classes. Children love to be involved in the training of their dog so I teach little tricks too for them to enjoy together. Note: Young children will require an extra adult to supervise them to ensure they do not distract other dogs in the class, but please enjoy your dog together, they are a member of the family.
.I want every person that attends my training to walk away feeling they have achieved something great. If you have anything in particular you would like to learn please feel free to tell me about it and will I do my best to incorporate it into lessons...others may benefit too.
Please contact us if you cannot find a class to suit you and your dog

Loose Lead Walking 2 hour workshop
Friday 8th July 10.30am - 12.30pm £30
Held at King George V Field, Caister
Teach your dog a cue to walk beside you rather than pulling on the lead and your walks becoming a tug of war. Loose Lead walking is different to heelwork in that we still want our dogs to sniff and explore their environment whilst still having the means to ask them to walk to heel when required. The workshop will teach you how to get and keep your dog's focus on you including how to deal when meeting people and other dogs.
NOTE: this is not a reactivity workshop. Dogs showing reactivity tendancies towards other dogs can be seen on a 1 to 1 basis.
Workshops have limited spaces.
Booking is required with full non-refundable payment to secure booking
Weather will not stop workshop going ahead except the confidence building workshop for safety reasons which will be resheduled.
A minimum of 2 dogs will need to book for the workshop to go ahead.
For owners that wish to have to a more intensive 1 to 1 session tailored training with just you and your dog these are £45 for 1 min. 60 minute lesson and a short follow up visit, if local, at a time/day to suit. You will be emailed a report of observations and training suggestions. This includes full phone and email support.
